Listen Up, Nerds!

We're sorry for calling you nerds.

Top Plug of the Week

The Flop House Podcast now has its own dedicated Letterboxd account! (In addition to the hosts’ pre-existing individual accounts!) Right now it’s a bit sparse and list-focused — there’s a master list of all the movies we’ve watched for the show, a list of recommendations from our celebrity guests, and a list of all of Hallie Haglund’s recommendations (more on Hallie later!). We’ll be adding recommendation lists from Dan, Stu, and Elliott soon (after 450 episodes, it’s a long process!) and would be happy to hear from listeners what YOU would like to see most from a FH Letterboxd account.

May-be Next Time

It’s May, and the birds are singing; the bees are buzzing; then the bees are screaming from being eaten by birds — but really quiet screams, because they’re bees. It’s a beautiful symphony.

And it’s all being drowned out by whatever goddamn road work they’re doing in front of our apartment that’s already been going on far too long. People live here! And work! Live-work, ever since lockdown, really. But you’re out there going BWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH! HHHHHHHEEEEERRRMMMMMMMM. SQUAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMM. KLAAAAANKBO! CRWAAAAAAARRRRRRRM! SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. FLLLLLARRRRRM!

SHUT THE FUCK UP!

Not you, dear reader. We would never. But I can’t write like this. Let’s just move on to the nitty-gritty…

Next on the Podcast

5/10 - HALLIE’S BACK! The beloved star of the show joins us to discuss Better Man, the Robbie Williams biopic where Robbie Williams is played by a CGI chimp. God forbid you refer to it as a CGI monkey, or Elliott will come to your house and hit you with biography of Jane Goodall.

5/17 - Hallie sticks around for this mini as well! Dan’s solicited a long list of topics from our listeners over on BlueSky, and we randomly select several to discuss, in a crowd-sourced conversational grab bag!

Plugging Away

Elliott also hosts/writes the podcast Smartless Presents: Clueless AND his new book Sadie Mouse Wrecks the House is now available!

Stuart paints Warhammer models/chats with viewers most Fridays on his Twitch channel. Get the inside Stu-scoop while enjoying some relaxing nerd craft.

Dan’s personal newsletter, Dan McCoy’s Special Interests comes out every non-Flop Secrets week. His most recent installment should be right up Flop House listeners’ alley, since it’s about the inexplicable horror flop Dreamcatcher!

You Made it to the End!

We already shared this pic on social media, but it’s too good not to double up. The wonderful Chuck Bryant of Stuff You Should Know, one of the kindest men in podcasting, visited NYC recently and took us out to dinner — here’s a pic of Dan, Stu, Chuck, and Hodgman, in all our food-and-cocktails glow.
