On the Road
But not the boring Jack Kerouac book
Top Plug of the Week!
Not a plug for us, for once. Well… sort of. It’s still a plug for something involving us. We were honored to be one of the 101 podcasts included in The Podcast Pantheon, by Sean Malin (more on him later), a collection of some of the best, most influential, and most historically significant shows in this still-young medium. We’re certainly biased by the good taste Sean showed by including we three knuckleheads/our show in his survey of the form, but it’s a fun read for any podcast fan! And known comedy nerd/podcast listener Jon Hamm wrote the forward, so it increases the chance Jon Hamm will listen to us someday by at least 60%!
Travellin’ Man
It’s no secret (mostly because I switch freely between third and first person, because I’m not quite sure how to navigate the voice of the newsletter) that I (Dan) write the newsletter.
And I (Dan) will be traveling the week this newsletter comes out, to sunny Los Angeles, where my terror of the current political climate will be greatly amplified, but at least the hotel has a pool. While I’m there, I’m gonna see such Flop House luminaries as ELLIOTT KALAN and HALLIE HAGLUND (maybe you’ve heard of them?) and guest on at least one other Max Fun show and see various friends on the other coast.
But that means that I have less time to write the middle “funny” part of this newsletter. My apologies. Please accept this silly comic I drew as an apology, inspired by my own Scots heritage and seeing a bagpiper on one of the heavily-UK-skewing mystery shows my wife Audrey loves.
a classic blunder
Next on the Podcast
9/27 - We tie up Smalltember(vember) with AN EASTER BUNNY PUPPY, another slice of micro-budgeted madness from David DeCoteau of A Talking Cat!?! infamy. What even IS an “Easter Bunny puppy?” Join us to find out!
10/4 - In honor of his book The Podcast Pantheon, author Sean Malin joins us for a mini where Dan leads him and the other Peaches in a tongue-in-cheek exercise to see what classics they’d kick out of the movie pantheon.
Plugging Away
10/4 also marks the second FlopTV episode of season three! We’ll be discussing Jack Frost and engaging in all sorts of related shenanigans! Get a ticket or season pass to join us!

Look how excited Jack is for us to talk about him!
Elliott recently guested on our podcast pals’ show The Comics Canon to talk about Will Eisner’s A Contract with God. You can also pre-order his book Joke Farming: How to Write Comedy and Other Nonsense!
Stuart paints Warhammer models/chats with viewers most Fridays on his Twitch channel. And if you’re in Brooklyn, check out Hinterlands; Minnie’s Bar; or Jiggle Studio, the body-positive exercise space!
Dan’s been working on a new project (with past FH guests Ritch Duncan and Kevin Maher) called Deathbed - “Horror Stories by Comedy Writers,” and by the time this newsletter’s in your inbox, it will have launched with an inaugural story by Dan himself, titled BAD SEED. Check it out! And while you’re in a newsletter mood, check out Dan’s personal newsletter, Special Interests. The most recent installment is something interesting from the archives — a FULL SPEC SCRIPT he wrote back in the day!
You Made it to the End!
Here’s a teaser for you! It’s a context-free image from the presentation I’m working on for November’s FlopTV!
